Bruce with Sierra Design Tent
Here's my buddy Bruce a.k.a. "LB" styling beside his "bomb proof" Sierra Designs tent. How do I know that? We tested it! Boy did we! That's what we do with all our "stuff" we get... see if it really works like they say it does. The first trip out with it we were on top of Black Balsam Knob in Pisgah with heavy winds and thunder and lightening right on top of us for about 5 hours straight. This tent stuck! It never failed, and the guy lines were just as tight as when we set them up. LB... I'll hang in this tent any time and it looks pretty cool too! .... PS... Let's not test anymore tents in lightening storms ... K?
Right: LB looking rather sportish just before a 10 mile day hike over Wilburn Ridge at Grayson. This picture is taken at the parking lot at Massie Gap. This was one of his first few winter hikes, before he got "the bug". We had a blast that day.
"HEY LB... You wearing some of my old stuff"?

Bruce and Tommy "iced" over Above: Whew!!!! "Made it to the woods". I remember this was one of those few times when the wind was so cold that it just took our breath away... Forget the fact that we were getting pelted with ice in the face. We had just crossed over an exposed ridge and the wind was kicking up some ice. (notice LB's jacket). Our Goggles were freezing over, and just in a short bit we had to clear them off.

Talk about determination...Despite major surgery in November 2000, and dealing with a heart running at 70%, LB continues to persue his passion for the mountains and quest for adventure. He's one cool dude! He hiked over 100 miles in less than a year and wore a pair of Vasque boots slap out. I love hanging in the hills with him. When he gets going, even I have a hard time keeping pace with his long strides. We're both "teckies" and love "stuff". GPS systems and mapping software are the latest toys. Hmmm..I believe he's a few "things" up on me here lately. I love his quote..." I get to looking on the internet...and "stuff" just shows up at my doorstep". Here's to you LB...Thanks for being my bud and hanging out with me even when it's cold! T
